On a windy drive at 4am in Indiana, I encountered deer right by the side of the road that made me grip the steering wheel in fear and wonder. Red moon was above from smoke high in the atmosphere that drifted east from California fires. One fox, then another darted across my path with the starburst effect of the headlights hitting the trees.

I’m often inspired by researching symbolic meanings of animals I encounter . . . The fox crossing your path could be reminding you of how skillful and capable you are and asking you to begin using these skills for your benefit. Fox also do all they can to protect their young. Deer can be associated with being sensitive and intuitive. Seeing a deer can encourage vigilance, having the ability to change directions quickly.
